Jesse Chisholm Grave Site & Canadian Rivers Historical Museum

Geary sits at a crossroads of Oklahoma history. Just eight miles northeast of town lies the Jesse Chisholm Grave Site, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Chisholm — a trader, guide, and interpreter of French and Cheyenne descent — blazed the famous Chisholm Trail used to drive cattle from Texas to Kansas after the Civil War. His burial site next to Left Hand Spring also honors Chief Left Hand (Niwath), the principal chief of the Southern Arapaho.

In town, the Canadian Rivers Historical Museum at 100 E Main Street occupies the historic Gillespie Building — itself listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum features a Rock Island caboose, the area's first log jail, and themed rooms depicting a turn-of-the-century bank, post office, doctor's office, and country school. Geary was also part of the original 1926–1932 alignment of Route 66, and its Route 66 mural and historic downtown reflect that storied past.
